Parenting

Parenting can be hard! Parenting a child who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community in a society that is often unwelcoming and unsupportive can be harder. This page is designed to help you discover resources that may be helpful to you and your child.

We are still working on developing this page, if there are specific resources that you are looking for but do not find here, please let us know. We will try to help you locate the resources you need and will add resources to this page as appropriate.

My child just came out to me... now what?

"Coming out is a lifelong journey of understanding, acknowledging and sharing one's gender identity and/or sexual orientation with others. It may be quick and easy for some, or longer and more difficult for others.

It is important for parents of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) teens to remember each child is unique and will have their own experiences and feelings along the way..."
